New Sodded and Seeded areas

Water Sod Immediately!

  1. It is almost impossible to over water during the first week. The sod you have received is the finest you can purchase. It has been delivered within 24 hours of harvesting, free of weeds, disease and insect infestation. But like any living plant, it must now devote its energies to reestablishing itself with new root growth. It needs water in order to do this. It is due to this need for water that we are only able to offer a 24-hour guarantee on our sod.
  2. To gauge watering, simply place an empty can about 6 inches away from the sprinkler.
  3. When there is about an inch of water in the can, it is time to move the sprinkler to the next area
  4. Reflected heat along buildings dries sod quickly. Be sure to water those areas more frequently.

Seeded Area Care

Your seeded lawn has been initially watered after planting. It should be watered heavily every two to three days for the first two weeks, and thereafter when dry conditions indicate need.

Mowing Tips

  1. With proper watering, your new "living carpet" will probably need mowing about 6-7 days after installation.
  2. Seeded lawns should be mowed when grass is high enough to need "leveling".

Traffic Caution

Use your new sodded lawn sparingly until good root establishment has taken place (2-3 weeks after installation).

Avoid concentrated play activities, dog traffic or similar rough usage until after four or more weeks have passed.

There are no restrictions on visually enjoying your beautiful lawn!

These are general procedures recommended by the American Sod Growers Assn.
